Organiser Melvin Benn has opened up about the yearly occasion – which customarily will take location across two websites in England around the August Lender Holiday break weekend with similar rotating lineups – and exposed having a year off due to the coronavirus pandemic has offered his team a lot more time to perform on anything particular.
He advised NME: “We are also going to reproduce the main stage two times. What was the 2nd stage is heading to be elevated to an equivalent stage with the exact same presentation.
“What that really lets us to do is reserve six functions that are headliners… Anyone one particular of them is a to start with time headliner.”
Benn insisted all six artists topping the invoice will “very much” be of an equal amount, and he was decided to craft a new lineup instead than carrying above the same bands from the scrapped 2020 pageant.
He spelled out: “I was extremely obvious and established about that. The strategy that the 2020 line-up would work correctly well for 2021? No, it is really not occurring – not for Examining and Leeds. We just wiped the slate thoroughly clean and commenced again. There will be 1 headliner that will repeat, but which is the only a person. Another person requested if we should really just ebook the exact same issue, but we’ve under no circumstances carried out that so why would we get started now? We might be a year out of day.”
It’s not however recognized which of the planned 2020 headliners will be back up coming yr, but Stormzy, Liam Gallagher and Rage Versus The Machine have been the three booked right before the cancellation. In 2019, the competition invoice was topped by The 1975, Publish Malone, Twenty 1 Pilots and Foo Fighters.
